July 16, 2011 in Santa Rosa David Madgalene reads from "To Be Named And Other Works of Poetic License"

Come to Poetry SoCoCo on Saturday, July 16th, 2011, 7-9pm, at 1015 4th Street at
Brookwood, and hear our readers:

        Ed Coletti, book launch reading for his new book of poems, When Hearts
Outlive Minds. Ed is the founder of the Poetry Azul (now Poetry SoCoCo)
series, publisher of  websites P3 and No Money In Poetry, Author of thawts:
Selected Poems of Edward Coletti , Jazz Gods, Bringing Home the Bones, and
Quiet Now. Ed is also a terrific painter, google the words "Ed Coletti's
Photostream"   to see for yourself. Ed is known for his kindness and
generosity to poets, his diverse creative styles of poetry, and his
emotionally moving readings. 

        Sherril Jaffe, tenured professor of creative writing at Sonoma State
University, is the English Department's resident fiction writer,
specializing in teaching short story and novel writing-workshops. She is the
author of 9 books, the latest of which is- Expiration Date. She is the
winner of a PEN Award and the recipient of a 2010 MacDowell Fellowship. Her
previous books include such titles as: Scars Make Your Body More Interesting
and other stories, The Faces Reappear, The Unexamined Wife, and This Flower
Only Blooms Every Hundred Years. 
 
David Madgalene, author of I Heard A Journeyman Sing (New Way Media,
Albany, CA) and Kali (Round Barn Press, Santa Rosa). With Christopher
Luna and Toni Partington, David co-authored To Be Named and Other Works
of Poetic License (Printed Matter, Vancouver, WA). He is the editor of
Continent of Light, showcasing 45 Bay Area Poets. David will be a
featured poet at the Petaluma Poetry Walk on September 18th. Also he is
participating in the 100,000 Poets For Change, a series of several
hundred poetry readings advocating social change to be held around the
world on September 24th, 2011. Please join David, who will be serving at
MC, at the Beat Museum in North Beach 1 pm to 6 pm on September 24th or
participate in one of the other eleven Poets for Change readings
scheduled in the Bay Area on that day.

            Bill Vartnaw,  publisher of Taurean Horn Press,  he has read his work
extensively around the Bay Area (and throughout California) and has been
featured since the mid-seventies.  His work has appeared in lots of
small magazines over the years, mostly recently in North Coast Literary
Review 4, metaformia.org, listenandbeheard.net, Big Scream 46 and
About.com (Spring Poems.)  In 2007, he co-edited with Geri Digiorno,
Petaluma Poetry Walk, 10-Year Anthology, 1996-2005.  Beatitude Press (in
Berkeley) published in 2009, Suburbs of my Childhood, a collection of
his work from 1972 to 1995, and Round Barn Press published his recent
book of poems, Postcards.
